Getting the house ready for BG

Tags: Pregnancy

Every time I write or say “BG” (which stands for Baby Gettings) I start thinking of “Stayin’ Alive” from the Bee Gees J I guess I need to have another baby to make it really the BGs!

Andy and I considered moving out of our 2 bedroom condo to a bigger house closer to work and Boston, but after looking around for several months we didn’t find anything we liked better than our condo for a price we wanted to pay. We really like it here: we have great neighbors (Caci’s you are awesome!), a really nice view of the Merrimack River and a neighborhood setting that is becoming harder and harder to find. Of course I like it better in the weekends, when I don’t need to commute 30-45 minutes to work, and in the warmer months, when I don’t mind not having a garage and we can enjoy the condo pool. So, we decided to stay and get it ready for BG.

On July 4th weekend we got an armoire to store most of the kitchen gadgets (a girl can never have enough!) and other loose things we had in the finished basement. We got rid through craigslist.org of the rest of the junk… I mean, stuff we had down there, and got the armoire nice and full. Hank, thank you so much for picking up the big armoire with Andy, and D. Anne, thank you very much for helping us getting it ready!

We spent the next couple of weeks packing and getting ready, and last Thursday 2 of my coworkers (Josh and Dan), Hank, Eric and Andy flipped the house upside down: moved the 2nd floor office/nursery to be to the basement, and the futon and TV from the basement to the 2nd floor (pics). It was a lot of work, and they were done in about 1.5 hours! We are so lucky to have such great (and strong) friends.

Today (Saturday) we hired painters and now the nursery is nice and freshly painted. Super Betsy (my sister) is coming on Thursday, and this weekend we’re going to go crib and possibly dresser shopping. The nursery is coming together, and it’s just about time! Only 2 more months to GO!!!
